FISHING AT PRIMLAND
Primland is located adjacent to the Pinnacles Project, a tailwater section of the upper Dan River. This six-mile stretch of the scenic Dan is very rugged and remote. Guided fly-fishing is offered, "catch and release only," for the wild brown, brook, and rainbow trout that inhabit these gin clear waters. For fly casters who do not crave the challenge of seldom used trails and imposingly lush rhododendron growth, the broader and more forgiving Kibler Valley section of the Dan is also nearby. Guests new to this sport may request our knowledgeable guides to provide casting and knot tying lessons. Our Orvis Outfitters Shop is stocked with flies and other equipment needed by serious fly-fishermen and women. Outfitting and rod rental are also available. You are encouraged to enjoy our stocked trout and largemouth bass ponds on the property. For those who enjoy fishing, but find the fly rod frustrating, spinning tackle is also kept on hand for use in the ponds.
